The BPCA initiative is built along three pillars:

icon Hydro-diplomacy: Science and diplomacy inform regional policy dialogues on strategic issues to advance regional water cooperation.
  • The new phase of Blue Peace Central Asia is implemented by an international consortium selected through a tender. The consortium is led by the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), a leading international research institute, and brings the expertise of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC).
icon Benefit-sharing: Small transboundary tributary projects demonstrate the benefit of water cooperation and enhance access to finance.
  • In close consultation with the region and the countries, Blue Peace Central Asia will further define its activities in order to best respond to the priorities of all Central Asia countries and to make a positive impact along the following issues: - Regional water cooperation and climate change; - Basin-management plans, agreements and financing; - Capacity building and education.
icon Capacity building: Youth, the media, and the next generation of water professionals gain expertise to advance water cooperation in Central Asia.
  • Blue Peace Central Asia will continue to work closely in response to the priorities of Central Asia countries through collaborations with regional organizations, ministries, civil society organizations, academia, media, and the private sector.
