The Blue Peace Project, in partnership with the USAID Regional Water and Environment Project, held the next meeting of the Network of Academic societies (NAS) in Bishkek on November 10, 2022. The NAS meeting brought together 32 participants from 24 universities and four international development programs working with the academic sector in the region to build the capacity of the next generation of water and environmental professionals in the region.
The event included the launch of the electronic Community of Practice platform (http://www.riverbp.net/community_of_practice/). The platform will be a virtual repository of knowledge and a platform for cooperation among representatives of different sectors on water, energy and climate change issues in Central Asia.
The concept of the Community of Practice and Research on WASH, supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and International Secretariat on Water (ISW) in Tajikistan, was also presented at the NAS meeting by Dr. Maryna Peter. Joining the Community will open up opportunities for Central Asian Universities to conduct joint applied research in WASH domain. The Community will potentially serve as a "bridge" between science, education and industry.
