Young scientists across Central Asia and Afghanistan are invited to apply for the Blue Peace Central Asia (BPCA) Research Competition, supporting innovative, applied solutions to the region’s most pressing water challenges.
The competition is organized under the Blue Peace Central Asia (BPCA) initiative, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development (SDC) and Cooperation and implemented by the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) in partnership with International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Central Asia Regional Environmental Centre Central Asia (CAREC). It aims to strengthen regional cooperation and support young researchers in developing practical, policy-relevant solutions for sustainable water management.
Central Asia faces growing pressure on its water resources due to climate change, rising demand, ecosystem degradation, and socio-economic shifts. The competition seeks interdisciplinary research that responds to these challenges with practical and context-oriented approaches.
Selected researchers will receive up to USD 3,000 to conduct applied research projects over a period of up to 12 months. The program also offers opportunities for training, mentoring, and participation in regional events.
